Billericay Town put in a five-star performance as they overcame Kingstonian in a 5-1 victory at New Lodge.
The Blues asserted their dominance early on and opened the scoring on seven minutes when Toby Stevenson’s corner fell to Daniel Quick, who headed home his first goal for the club. The K’s were unable to get a foothold in the game and Billericay dominated possession for much of the first period. As half time approached, it appeared as if Dan Brown’s side would go into the break with a one-goal advantage, but those thoughts were shattered when Kingstonian forward Tyrese Owen fired past Harry Seaden to level on the stroke of half-time.
Billericay regained their advantage on the 54-minute mark. An inch-perfect cross from Quick went through to Alfie Cerulli, who poked the ball into the Kingstonian net. The Blues had their tails up and it wasn’t long before their third. Anderson Pinto set up Bradley Stevenson, who struck powerfully into the corner. Kingstonian struggled to break down a resolute home defence and the Blues remained potent in attack.
Marvel Ekpiteta showed a true striker’s instincts to volley home with 73 minutes played. The Blues got their fifth and final goal with Eze Ebuzoeme’s strike from the edge of the box. Lee Lewis had an opportunity to reduce the deficit for the visitors but his shot was saved by Seaden.
The Blues remain in the play-off hunt while struggling Kingstonian will be looking down anxiously at the other end of the table.
