Imran Uche states it was ‘very disappointing’ to lose to Corinthian-Casuals

Imran Uche has been an excellent addition at Billericay Town since joining the Blues at the end of October and he picked up the Player of the Month award for November following a number of impressive performances. Despite playing in central midfield, Uche featured at right back against Canvey Island and he shone as Billericay Town secured a 1-0 derby day win. Yesterday, the Blues were unable to push towards the play-off places after a disappointing 2-1 loss to Corinthian-Casuals. Following the defeat, I spoke to the Billericay Town midfielder about the result, his thoughts heading into the Cray Wanderers match and more.

Billericay Town fall to a disappointing 2-1 defeat to Corinthian-Casuals. How did you view the game?

‘Obviously, it’s not good at all. Considering how well we started and where they are in the league table, Billericay Town are a massive club so I think when we are playing against teams like that, we should always be winning the games. We started so brightly, we just need to start ending teams because in the last couple of games it has been like that. We have been all over teams but we just don’t seem to take our chances and we are leaking goals at the moment but I am sure we will sort it.’

How disappointing was it to lose despite the Blues starting on the front foot?

‘Like I said, it was very disappointing – we started so well. I think we have just got to keep together, keep pushing and the results will come.’

You have been at New Lodge for a short time now. How would you summarise your first few months with the Blues?

‘It has been great. It is a good bunch of lads and everyone gets on well, I have enjoyed every moment. The only thing now that is missing is to push up the table and win every game which we should be doing. There is a lot of talented players, a good management team and like I said before it is a massive club so I think we should be winning every game. I am enjoying it and we need to keep going and keep pushing.’

Next up we are on the road as we take on Cray Wanderers. Do you think that is a good chance to get back on track in the league?

‘Every game now, because of the last few results which haven’t been good enough, we should have won the last couple of games. I think every game now we should go into and wanting to win so it is a must-win game. Every game is important and we want to be in the play-offs and go back up to the Vanarama National League South.’

A massive thank you to Imran Uche (@Imran_uche on Twitter) for making the time for this interview.
