The Netherlands and the USA meet in the first Round of 16 game of the FIFA World Cup this afternoon. The latter progressed from second place in Group B, while the Netherlands finished top in Group A.

1′ – The first half is underway at the Khalifa International Stadium with the winner set to play Argentina or Australia in the quarter finals.
2′ – The USA have made a very bright start and Pulisic is denied by Noppert who makes an excellent save.
9′ – Gregg Berhalter’s side have been dominating the Dutch and they are pressing with intent.
10′ GOAL – Dumfries pulls his cross back to Depay who slots home from a brilliant counter-attack.
17′ – Gakpo lays it off for Blind whose shot goes over.
20′ – Depay’s shot goes wide from a tight angle.
28′ – Depay runs at the USA defence but Zimmerman tackles the Barcelona forward and the ball goes out for a corner.
28′ – The subsequent corner kick comes to nothing.
39′ – The USA are struggling to break down the Netherlands at the moment.
42′ – Weah’s beautiful strike from outside the box is saved by Noppert.
45′ – One minute has been added on.
45+1′ GOAL – The Netherlands double their advantage just before the break as another cross from Dumfries falls to Blind who hits past Turner.
It is half time as the Netherlands lead the USA 2-0. Two goals courtesy of Memphis Depay and Daley Blind puts the Dutch in the driving seat heading into the second half.
Second Half
45′ – The second half is underway.
49′ – The USA nearly get a goal as Ream pokes towards goal but his shot is cleared off the line.
50′ – The Netherlands are close to getting a third and Depay nearly hit home from Dumfries’ cross.
52′ – Pulisic’s shot goes straight into the hands of Noppert.
53′ – McKennie’s shot flies over after a good counter-attack.
60′ – Koopmeiners is booked for a foul on Pulisic.
61′ – Depay’s shot is tipped over by Turner.
67′ – Two substitutions for the USA – Aaronson on for Weah and Wright on for McKennie.
70′ – Van Dijk heads over from a corner.
71′ – A shot from outside the box is saved by Turner and the rebound from Depay is also saved.
74′ – A bad pass from Depay puts Wright through on goal and he goes around the goalkeeper but he couldn’t convert.
75′ GOAL – Pulisic’s low cross falls to Wright who flicks the ball into the net with 15 minutes remaining!
80′ – The USA are in the ascendancy now.
81′ GOAL – Blind’s cross from the left falls to Dumfries who books the Netherlands’ place in the quarter finals.
86′ – Zimmerman’s overhead kick inside the box from a corner goes wide.
87′ – De Jong is given a yellow card for a foul on Aaronson.
