Terrell Agyemang has had an incredible rise in recent times. In May, he was released by Charlton Athletic but only a few months later, Agyemang went on trial at Manchester City and subsequently signed for City one month later. The youngster has already trained with the Manchester City first team squad on a number of occasions and he has a very bright future ahead of him. I asked Manchester City U21’s rising star about his experience at the Etihad Stadium so far, his experience training with the first team and more.
You recently made the move to Manchester City after being on trial there. At this early stage, what has it been like in Manchester?
‘It’s been an experience! Obviously, I am new to Manchester but I feel like I’ve settled in very well and I just want to enjoy the challenges that come everyday so that I can learn and build both on and off the pitch.’
You were released by Charlton Athletic but you have had an incredible rise in recent times. Did you ever expect to join Manchester City following that release?
‘I, and many others, that are the closet to me always had belief in my ability so when the opportunity to join City came about, I was confident enough to show what I can do. It just goes to show when you put your mind to something, anything is possible.’
You have had a rollercoaster of a career in football so far. Has there been one person who you have looked up to?
‘I couldn’t put it down to one person but I’d say mainly just my family. They have always been there for me through thick and thin – always motivating me to keep going and they had infinite belief, so I would say them.’
You have trained with the Manchester City first team squad on a number of occasions. What has that experience been like?
‘I’ve trained with the first team a few times and it’s been unbelievable – training with the best in the world. The standard is top quality and it is an experience that motivates me even more to prove to myself that with hard work, I can continue to improve and reach new heights.’
What are your long term ambitions in football?
‘For me, I just want to play at the highest level that I can and continue to prove to myself that I’m more than capable of doing it with belief in God and hard work.’
